Illinois Casino Gaming Association (ICGA)

In 1990, the Illinois General Assembly passed the Riverboat Gambling Act, allowing for the operation of 10 riverboat casinos in Illinois. The Act allows for riverboat gambling upon any water within or on the border of the State of Illinois, other than Lake Michigan. Chicago area riverboats are located on the Des Plaines, Fox, Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.

You must be 21 years of age to board a riverboat that has gambling, and wagering must be cashless, so tokens and chips are used.

The Illinois Casino Gaming Association (ICGA) represents 7 of the 9 casinos currently operating in Illinois. The association coordinates industry initiatives, including advocacy and education on such issues as economic development, community service and responsible gaming. Continue reading

Indian casino destinations within 2 hours of Chicago

While there are no indian casinos in Illinois, there are several within a reasonable driving distance from Chicago. The Blue Chip, Majestic Star, Four Winds and Potawatomi Casinos are all within one or two hours drive from Chicago.

Potawatomi Bingo Casino

The Potawatomi Bingo Casino near downtown Milwaukee has added an¬† off-track-betting room and a new poker room as part of the casino’s newly¬† completed 500,000-square-foot, $240 million expansion project.

“A wide variety of simulcast races are offered in this new, non-smoking amenity¬† located just off the casino’s skywalk on the third floor,” OTB manager Paul¬† Lurenz said.

“The new, non-smoking poker room located next to the OTB room includes the¬† addition of five tables, bringing the number to 20,” said poker room manager Joe¬† Willi. “The room has more space, making it more comfortable for guests and¬† casino team members alike. The usual games are being offered including¬† Seven-Card Stud, Omaha and Texas
Hold’em, with betting limits ranging from¬† low-limit to no-limit.”

Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Resort is in Michigan City, Indiana. Its night club ‚ÄúRocks‚ÄĚ has entertainment including a Neil Diamond tribute and a popular oldies¬† band, Zane’s Way.

The Majestic Star Casino poker room in Gary offers two new Texas Hold’em¬† tournaments in addition to its regular weekly schedule of tournaments.
The Bounty Tournament is played at 7 p.m. every Friday, and the Deep Stack at 5  p.m. Saturdays. The buy-in is $125 for the Bounty and $220 for Deep Stack.

Four Winds Casino Resort

The Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo, Michigan is featuring the “Zig, Zag¬† and Tag” promotion with cash prizes and a new 2008 Jaguar XF.
